I’m sure you have horror stories to tell and to worn others about your experiences and to expose your Web Hosting Company rotten practices. So, go ahead and spill your guts and tell us how you feel about your Web Hosting Company

Free Domain Registration Scam

February 20th, 2008

These days it is normal for Web Hosting Companies (WHC) to offer free domain name with web hosting packages and even though what at first glance looks like a total loss of about $20.00 for 2 years registration, in reality it is WHC long shot to “riches”.

The problems starts when an unsuspecting customer gives WHC their domain name he/she wants to use and consent to have that domain being registered by WHC without asking WHC first who will be the owner of that domain.

After 1 year, at the domain name renewal time, the “owner” learns that the domain has been registered in the name of his/her Web Host Company and that in order to continue to use it, customer must buy from WHC domain that should be his/her to begin with . The buy back price for that domain varies and normally will depend on customer site. Personal site domain may cost as low as $100.00 and if you have a well-established moneymaking e-commerce site, it may cost you $1,000.00 and more.

Here is what you can do to prevent this from happening.

  1. Always register domain yourself and keep user name and password to yourself
  2. Lock up your domain at the registration time
  3. If WHC have free domain option, tell them you already have domain and ask them to give you credit of some sort
  4. Do not give WHC access to your Domain Admin Control Panel and if you have to make any changes to Name Servers for example, then do it yourself

And remember, free has a price too.

Web Hosting Blog Mission

February 13th, 2008

Let me tell you people, it’s become crazy out there. Some Web Hosting Companies went berserk and start offering 1TB of disk space and 1TB of monthly transfer, which would be realistic if computer hardware market has 1TB Hard Drives and Upstream Providers sold 1TB of transfer for $1.00.

In real life the biggest Hard Drive you can buy are only 500GB and Upstream Providers charge their best clients $2,000.00 or more for 1,000GB of transfer per month. If WHC says to you: buy from us for $5.00 per month double of what $200.00 Hard Drive capable to hold and $20,000.00 it cost us for transfer your data, then you don’t have to be the greatest mathematician to figure up that this Web Hosting Company is dishonest, deceitful, cunning, cheating and lying Company you should stay away from as far as you can.

This Web Hosting Blog mission is to review such so called Top Hosts and to expose the nature and real face behind $5.00 per month price tag they placed for thousands of dollars per month in their own costs.

You all are welcome to report lying Web Hosts and share your experiences with others.
